They are one of the highest sources of antioxidants.

You need antioxidants to counter free radicals which are formed when things oxidise. We are exposed to them through pollution and certain foods that have been exposed to high temperatures like processed vegetable oils, milk powder, powdered eggs etc. They are also formed naturally in you body as cells utilise glucose for energy, also called oxidisation. Free radicals are believed to speed up the aging process and may also contribute to cancer and other health problems if not balanced with antioxidants
